How C-Suite Will Lead Their Organizations In 2015

The age of the Social Enterprise and Sharing Economy is changing the way executives lead in today’s hyper-connected, mobile, and global business world.

As CEO and founder of oneQube, I can empathize with the challenges executives face today: the ever-changing landscape of social media, disruptive innovation, and new technology.

I recently attended the 3-day C-Suite Network Conference in Boston, where celebrity entrepreneur Kevin Jonas and Boston Celtic President Rich Gotham joined over 400 of the world’s top business leaders for the exclusive event.

The recurring theme throughout the conference was how executives must make the pivotal shift to leading content-driven organizations.

I took the stage with Jeffrey Hayzlett, host of C-Suite Network’s @CSuiteTV and @CSuiteRadio, and we discussed what content needs to reach our target audience:

Content is still king. But it’s a king of nothing without intelligent context and a community activating the brand story. Which makes a kingdom.

It all comes down to this:

Relevance is key: Get your content in front of the right person, with the right message, at the right time.

The Right Person:

Finding your audience in the ocean of big data is no easy task. Where do you cast your line?

Data by itself doesn’t actually do anything. Data has to be activated to extract meaning. You have to “ask” data the right questions to reel in the big fish.

Want to connect with an elusive social CEO? Query your data with industry-related keywords and hashtags, the thought leaders they engage with, and the content sources they share. This data-driven strategy finds your target with precision, predictability, and scale.

The Right Message:

Do you know what your audience wants? Not what you think they want, but what they actually want?

“Your audience is telling you everything you need to know” and exactly what they want. Right now. People expect you to deliver personal, individualized content that solves their problems and answers their questions in real-time. Data-driven marketing must shift from basic buyer persona segmentation to intelligent, personalized, real-time content.

While nine out of ten marketers agree individualized marketing is a priority, only half of them use data to individualize messages.

One way to use data to craft the content your audience craves is to “Link Listen™”: listening for Tweets containing a link from a specific site, or a link to an individual post. Link listening can reveal emerging readership trends and identify who is sharing and amplifying your site’s content.

Take this one step further and distill your larger audience into smaller “micro-communities” sharing a specific post from your site. Co-founder of oneQube, Robert Moore, says “These ‘micro-communities’ of content sharers have their own ‘digital DNA.’”

This “digital DNA” is the unique code for creating the unequivocal, personalized content your audience wants.

The Right Time:

Timing is everything in the Social Age. Your fabulous content is meaningless unless you deliver it when your audience wants it.

Customers demand real-time engagement with brands across multiple channels and devices. Real-time engagement isn’t a marketing strategy: it’s a purposeful, scalable, emotional investment you make with your audience.

Still not ready to invest in real-time engagement? Consider the explosive popularity of live-streaming app Meerkat and Twitter’s partnership with Periscope. The appetite for all things real-time is only getting stronger.

Businesses not meeting their customers and delivering on their brand promises in real-time are in real trouble.

Real-time technology like oneQube Spider “Observer” makes audience engagement simple and scalable. Observer is a real-time dashboard that visually depicts the conversation flow around any topic. Observe emerging statistics on the conversation and react to audience insights in real-time.

Leading a content-driven organization isn’t a luxury: it’s a necessity. Are you ready to meet the content challenge?
