Help Linkedin Retired Me. Huh?

Help Linkedin Retired Me. Huh?

This week I discovered I was retired on Google. Stunned, surprised was I. Linkedin retired me? Yes, the Tsar of professional social media gave me the gold watch and announced on the Internet. If you were wearing my shoes, how would you feel? So what did Linkedin “retire” me from?

Warning, there’s a shadowy side to this story, I wonder if you can pick up the clues. How Sherlock are you?

  • I retired from the SAS Institute.
  • I retired from being a school Administrator.
  • I retired from a company called “Me & Blue”
  • I retired from private practice.
  • I retired from the Centre For Alternative Technology

But I never worked at the SAS Institute. True, it’s no secret I loved the software and devoted quite a few years in aerospace to further its adoption.

A school administrator, me? I can hear some old school chums giggling.

I did not know about the company Me & Blue until google said I had worked there.

As for retiring from private practice? Am I on life support and just don’t know it yet?

Finally about alternative technology, does that mean going back to pencil and paper (kidding) - no I never worked at the center.

The internet says I retired from all of these jobs.

Okay some of you might think this is funny, especially with some of the things I’ve written lately. But it’s not directly related. Here is what I found.

On the bright side, out of 350 million members, Linkedin decided I was happily retired.

In fact I am in the top 24 of all Linkedin professionals to be happily retired around the world. Don’t believe me?

So, you might ask:

Did you say anything on your profile indicating that you were retired?

No, I did not. But let’s dig a bit deeper. See if it is possible to figure out why Linkedin retired me. It can’t be because of the posts I’ve written on changes they have been making since 2015 began.

I reviewed my profile and there are three occurrences of “retire*”.

In Summary:

<< I am currently open to all geolocations and industries: whether or not you are currently employed, still studying, recently graduated or earned your retirement stripes. >>

LinkedIn Advocate:

I don’t believe there is a “Way” to present your self on Linkedin. It is your choice. You do need to consider your interests and needs, any short term goals or long term goals you might have. These should shape your Linkedin profile directions and you can change them whenever you want. If you are seeking work please let people know, your way. Nudge former and retired colleagues, they are missed; we search for them on Linkedin to reconnect.

Projects:

<< Study Upgrade Feasibility - Migrate Content Server 4.2.6o 2006 – 2006 >>

<< Carried out a study to determine the value and possibility of upgrading an existing legacy Content Server in 4.2.6o to 5.25 SP4. Containing almost one terabyte of data, only 350 Gigabytes needed to be retained. Investigation revealed a proprietary format, a third party product would break at target release. As the vendor intended to retire their product I saw little value to move to the last...more >>

That’s all, only three words with a version of “retire*” in my profile

It seems it was enough for Linkedin to announce on the internet and Google search that I am retired from jobs I never held.

None of those companies sent golden watches, gave me retirement parties or pensions. Sigh.

Now here is the final information for you to cyber sleuth. My public profile on Linkedin.

What is your conclusion? Can you figure out why Linkedin decided to retire me?

Update April 16th, 2015:

I would like to inform you that I have retired? AGAIN! This time the company I have retired from is Google!

Linkedin retired me from Google! As yet, I do not work for Google. Google? Please hire me, and then you can retire me, maybe in 10 years from now?

We need to crack this case. I have stressed what my profile looks like on the internet, see the screen capture above. It is one of your most important clues for the previous companies Linkedin decided to retire me from.

Now I am going to give you two more clues. And naturally, what do you recognize?

The last clue I am going to offer. As a human being, do you understand the difference between “On” , “From”, “At”?

The root cause is simple. Linkedin cheaped out on QA. They need to hire more QA Analysts and fix the bugs.

Katherine Minkofska-Garrigues OMG, After working for the bank 22 the bank was retiring or downsizing individual. Bank Officials like me were given a Retirement with a package deal. In the USA there is a form that they are able to use to dismiss you without cause. Because I was the youngest one as an Officer, they would not give me a Branch Officers position. They actually wanted to fire me, I could not find a lawyer and going to the EEOC would had been a waist of time. For that company sides with the industry no you. So I submitted a 2 week notice for it to show that I quite and was not fired. There is a sensitive reason why they wanted to fire me, I do not want to disclose. I bit you well I am very sure that you will get a better job else where. If you need a letter of Recommendation, feel free to let know. Campaner for Pres. Obama and Lady Clinton.
