Let's End the Busy Brag

Let's End the Busy Brag

A simpler, more enjoyable life is the goal for many. But we don’t set up our days or our lives to accomplish it.

Our lives essentially are like an overloaded grocery bag. A grocery bag itself (as with human beings) are only meant to carry a finite number of items. Yet we are always trying to stuff that grocery bag chock full of stuff, adding complexity and more issues to the journey, from the store to the car to the house.

The lesson learned from the grocery bag analogy: stop stuffing your life full of stuff.

Why stop? Well, consider this: what do you notice when you scrape off a few things from the never ending to-do list of life? Feels good right? Usually a nice blend of accomplishment, assurance and relief.

In fact any forward action tends to breed more focused effort against what is really dragging you down.

Complex is difficult. Simple is easy. If your head is spinning each and every day don’t think this is a new normal. It isn’t and shouldn’t be. It means you are doing too many things and haven’t truly determined what works for you and your world.

A life coach I once worked with told me: “Define what makes you happy. Do that more often, while doing less of what is making you miserable.” I take that to mean: focus on the good stuff.

If not, you’ll break, and end up doing nothing in the end.

Great common sense article focusing on what's most important - now I just need to put that into practice :)
