The Foundry: Independent, disruptive, excited !
I feel very fortunate that I got to be part of the process that led to the transaction today between The Foundry and HgCapital. I got to work closely with Bill Collis, Simon Robinson and their management team. I discovered a great team and a vision for our industry that is refreshing, motivating and stimulating.
I am particularly happy that the Foundry remains Independent and gets the support of the great folks at HgCapital. The Carlyle Group and Michael Wand have done a great job during their tenure, HgCapital will now take over, they have deep european roots and an impressive track record of helping software companies grow and move forward.
An independent, well-supported, Foundry solely focused on the needs of artists and content creators around the world will make a huge difference. The Foundry team deeply understands the needs and the challenges of creative teams building digital content, they are from within.
I am so excited by what's around the corner: AR, VR, GPUs everywhere, high performance 3d in every browser and on every mobile device. Interactive 3d is reaching beyond film and games. It is becoming a first class citizen of the internet and a mainstream medium ... at last !
It is a fantastic time to be part of this industry !

8yGreat news for you guys, as mentioned before, it´s good that you stay independent and avoid mistakes made by other companies like Nothing Real a long, long time ago :)

8y@Lauren Alt I one hundred percent agree. They can continue to revolutionize unlike other software developers that don't have that type of freedom.
