5 Eloquent Confidence Boosters

5 Eloquent Confidence Boosters

One of my favorite aspects of my job is working with amazing experts in the world of sales, marketing, IT and recruiting. I'm constantly learning from them as I curate their content.

Recently, I collaborated with Scott Love on an awe-inspiring post about how recruiters can boost their confidence with simple shifts in their mindset. Whether you're a recruiter, a marketer, a salesperson, or anyone with a pulse, you can learn something from this post. It's all about believing in yourself, and the success will follow.

Here's my take on it.

Recognize that confidence is a byproduct of achievement.

Scott's concept is simple: Once you start achieving success, you will achieve more success. Whether it's a great sales call or a conversion-crushing email campaign, do more of it...NOW. Don't bask in the greatness you've achieved. Instead, use that sense of excitement to succeed again. Embrace the snowball effect. Believe in yourself enough to know that once you've started the party, you can keep it hoppin'.

Daydream about your success and act as if you have already achieved it.

Treat yourself the way you want to be treated. Have the confidence that you deserve, and that others already instill in you. Oftentimes we're harder on ourselves than anyone else, and the constant beating is only going to dampen your mood. Instead, look up and forward. Strive for what you want, work toward it everyday, and give yourself little pats on the back for your successes along the way.

Read as if your life depends on it.

You cannot succeed in a vacuum. Explore the world, open your mind, and read...a lot. Read about topics related and unrelated to your job. Read books that motivate and inspire you. The team at RingLead is constantly reading and sharing books. When we're all reading the same books, we have a common understanding, and the conversations flow. It helps you and the team. Investing time in yourself is time well spent.

Write down your core life values.

Find the core values that play a role in your success. Then, write them down. According to Scott, this exercise enables you to embark on an exciting voyage of self-discovery, which builds your confidence.

Remember that success is a choice, and it's usually harder than the status quo.

Doing the right thing usually requires taking the path of most resistance. While it might be slower and tougher as you trudge through this route, it is worth it in the end. Work hard everyday to achieve that success, and know that it takes going above and beyond to get there. If you're following the status quo, you probably won't achieve that desired outcome.

Thank you, Scott, for an inspirational way to start my week, the rest of my month and probably the rest of 2015. Remembering these simple-yet-impactful approaches to everyday work and life will not only make me a better marketer, but a better person overall.
