in 2014 I taught the pilot in Boston of General Assembly's UX Design "intensive": twelve weeks, full-time, 400 hour introduction to UX design skills, methods, client interaction and career path.

I incorporated one-on-one mentor-protégé sessions and career coaching with each of my twelve students.

In 2015 I joined many career support events GA Boston career staff held, as a career coach, on a voluntary basis.

So, in D.C. I headed straight to GA's career staff and began participating in their career coaching and placement programs for the UX Design Immersive program student: mock hiring experience, resume and portfolio reviews and 1:1 interviews. We give students interviewing experience to build confidence.

Our feedback from experienced practitioners and hiring people helps them assess and improve their background story, ambitious career vision, their communication and poise during interviews and professional socializing.

All in a "safe space" to support their resilience, growth and success. Not disempowering, belittling, denigrating, denying and erasing them.

My critique is constructive, frank and kind. Coated with zero sugar. Unorthodox and iconoclastic. I build and courageous, open, opinionated humanistic designers. The world doesn't need more robots.
