Chinese Home Appliance Industry and Market, March 2014

During the period January and March 2014, sales of Chinese home appliances totaled about 160.7 billion RMB, up 9.23% compared to the same period of 2013, according to statistics released by China's National Bureau of Statistics on April 16. In March alone, sales of Chinese home appliances scored about 55.4 billion RMB, up 13% year-on-year. Looking ahead to the second quarter of 2014, sales of Chinese home appliances are forecast to continue robust growth, to be spurred mainly by the arrival of week-long May Day Holiday and by increasing demand for home appliances as result of home refurbishment and renovations that occurs in every spring.

The Taiwanese LCD Monitor Industry, 1H 2014

This report presents the Taiwanese LCD monitor shipment volume and value forecasts, as well as the recent quarter review of shipment volume ranking, product mix, price trends, production locations, shipment destinations, and business types by ODM/OBM/private label. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with LCD monitor makers. The report finds that in the fourth quarter of 2013, the Taiwanese LCD monitor shipment volume slipped 6.0% year-on-year to around 24 million units. Looking forward to the first half of 2014, it is projected that the industry's shipment volume will saw a 13.5% sequential decline in the first quarter, followed by a rebound of around 9.3% sequentially in the second quarter.
Chinese home appliance market value reached about 527.8 billion RMB, up 10.3% year-on-year. In the same quarter, market value however dropped 3.2%, a second consecutive decline in 2013 which is likely attributed mainly to the termination of China's subsidy policy for energy-saving appliances and higher calculation base in 2012. In anticipation of the advent of the smart home appliance era, product ASP (Average Selling Price) is considered a key factor for higher profitability. Profits of Chinese home appliances - comprising of refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and TVs – totaled about 21.6 billion RMB in the fourth quarter of 2013, up 43.5% year-on-year. Looking ahead to the future, the Chinese home appliance industry - about to enter the touch and IoT (Internet of Thing) era – is expecting further profit gains. This report presents monthly review of the shipment volume and sales of the Chinese white goods industry, comprising of washing machine, refrigerator, and air conditioner, and includes vendor and model volume ranking, as well as export and import information. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews and secondary information collected from shipment and sales data publicly disclosed by Chinese leading home appliance brands and channel distributors.
