Storylines That Grab Attention Like a Magnet!

When you promote a product, launch an email marketing campaign, write a blog post or even record a video you are telling a story. If you want to make your story stick to people's minds you have to be sure that you get the attention of your readers, viewers and fans right off the bat!

This is what will make them want to read more and come back for more of your information and stories.

This is a really powerful way to sell, persuade and even convince people...

You always have to make sure that the things you are saying or writing about relate to your audience and this will make your readers easily relate to you and the characters in the story. Why? Because facts just tell...and stories SELL!

I will outline three major storylines that can help you achieve that and help you grab your reader's attention just like a plain old magnet.

You can use them separately but the trick is to find which version suits your business best, or...you could just combine them in order to make people easily identify with you or your story and then easily bond with you.

So here they are:

1. The Regular Guy/Hero - This storyline is about someone who has made a discovery let's say and is willing to share it with us. People often times relate to it if they desire or strive for that particular outcome that you are sharing with them.

The approach when using this storyline should be like this:

  • You are only sharing your story because people want to read it and find more information about what your saying. You have stumbled upon something that works great for you.
  • You are doing this as a favor to your Tribe/Community after you have tried it out and found out that it works well for you.
  • Your approach should be humble and in a way let people know that you are only sharing your story because it has helped in your participial case when you experienced their problem and it has helped other people.
  • When you tell that story people wish these things happen to them and are more willing to identify with you as the main character of the story.

2. The Ordinary Good Deed Do-er - This storyline is very popular. It is a story of loss and redemption. It is about a regular person, the common man who makes it big and it basically says to the reader "You can do it, too!"

The approach when using this storyline should be like this:

  • It should take your reader through a range of emotions that they have experienced or they want to experience.
  • It will help you bond with your readers as they will immediately identify themselves with you and your character and they will think you or your character are both alike.
  • Basically you are saying to your reader that you've been in the same position he/she is and despite the odds you turned things around.

3. Our Tribe VS. Their Tribe - This storyline helps in the case when people are dissatisfied with someone or something and it let's them blame someone or something for their dissatisfaction and then of course, they can easily pick a persona that can deliver them from that dissatisfaction.

The approach when using this storyline should be like this:

  • You should tell your readers that it is not their fault they are not doing it right and not successful because of some outside factors or another tribe that is holding the solution to themselves let's say.
  • You should make sure that you imply in your copy that you and your reader are both fighting this fight, you both have this problem.
  • Next thing to mention in the story is how you actually found a SECRET no one else is telling them and you have managed to overcome your problem and now you want to share it with your tribe.
  • And finally you reveal the working solution as you want to help achieve the goals that you share with your community.
