Why Waiting Makes No Sense.

Two weeks ago I met with a high school friend who at the age of 32 has suffered more setbacks and trials than most folks twice his age. The shortlist is that he had cancer, broke his back, broke his hip, and recently suffered a foot injury that required surgery. During all of this he also lost his job. Hard times. The optimist in me wanted to tell him, "It's going to get better." But instead we shared a few cups of coffee and chatted about how I could help him find some new ways to create income.

That was two weeks ago. This Saturday I will attend his funeral. The surgery he had on his foot three days after meeting with me wound up creating a blood clot. The clot took his life, leaving behind 4 kids, a wife, and a broken community. Things didn't get better.

Sometimes in life we wait for things to get better thinking that it's inevitable, they have to get better. Who is it that sings, "If you're going through Hell keep on going"? Well those marching orders are correct, keep on going. If you are going through some extremely challenging times today I'd encourage you to keep on moving. Don't wait for things to get better, sometimes they don't. Be like my late-friend and begin by taking action, meeting with people who can help you, and set goals.

Rob will be dearly missed by the local community, a sudden loss to a young life. Waiting makes no sense. Don't wait to chase what fires you up. Today is a perfect day to pursue your passion.
