My First 3 Months as a Social Seller: $39,500 in New Business

This post is a follow up to an early post I made at the start of my tenure at Sales for Life called My First 2 Weeks as a Social Seller: 500% More LinkedIn Profile Views.

I thought it would be helpful for everyone if I documented how my massive increase in Social Selling activity has translated into dollars and cents.

Since completing Sales for Life’s Social Selling Mastery training my social networks have expanded exponentially. In the last 3 months I have added 600+ contacts to my LinkedIn network and 200+ connections to Twitter network, many of whom fall within our target market.

I have also established myself as a definitive resource for Social Selling and general sales advice information. My LinkedIn profile now receives an average of 150 views/week placing me at #12 in my network out of nearly 1,600 contacts for the highest viewed profiles (which is 3 places higher than our Managing Partner; Jamie Shanks!!) and the content I’ve posted in the last 2 days has received over 5000+ views on LinkedIn alone. But what does this all mean?

Since joining Sales for Life 3 months ago I have closed $39,500 in new socially driven deals and added over $100,000 in new socially driven opportunities to our pipeline. And I did all of this without making one single cold call!

Please understand that I do not say any of this to brag although I’m aware that it may come off as such. I merely want to convey the power of Social Selling to anyone, like me, whom is fed up of the same old smile & dial sales techniques without producing justifiable results. It has been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results. I am here to tell you that more dials DOES NOT equal more sales. This is not all to say that you should immediately stop using your current sales methods, only that you should consider adding some new tools to your belt.

Social Selling tools are out there and if used effectively they can make your life as a sales and/or marketing professional a lot easier. If you’ve got any questions, feel free to reach out or comment in the box below.

Great post Dave. Critical to build personal connections when social selling. I always like to tie it to something that person is passionate or relevant to them (a quote they said, a tweet).

Thank you all very much for the feedback :) I love sharing success stories like these. I find they're one of the most powerful sales tools we can use to convey an idea or new strategy with our networks. I'll be sure to post another update on my progress in a few months.

Good post - I have also had GREAT results especially with contacts made on LinkedIn.
