Are content creators taking the place of traditional "celebrities"? Yes, says beauty influencer and educator Alexis Androulakis, also one half the Lipstick Lesbians on TikTok. “Creators on platforms are about to shift into the roles celebrities used to own,” she says. “It's not a coincidence that talent management agencies are buying influencer agencies and absorbing them.” The difference between a celebrity and a creator, from Androulakis’ perspective, is that when you fall in love with a celebrity, “you fall in love with a character.” However, a content creator has to “win you over as themselves.” She points to J Lo, and the discourse around J Lo’s latest album and documentary, as an example of where we are today with “influencer culture vs. celebrity culture.” What do you think? Are creators becoming the new “celebrities?” Drop a comment. Watch Androulakis’ episode of #Catalyst to learn more about her story from the beauty industry to TikTok: https://lnkd.in/eZxPr4Ep

For Bob, that answer involves effectively communicating the need to adapt, creating a culture that gives employees space and time to apply learnings (and even leave the company to keep growing), and also understanding as a leader that survival may require significant reinvention.
